Hello! I’m Lily, the illustrator behind Lily Faye Illustration. Based in Nottinghamshire, I share my home with my husband and our two dogs. I create detailed linework illustrations inspired by nature, bugs, birds, fungi, + folklore themes with a whimsical, playful feel.
I graduated from the University of Lincoln in 2017 with a degree in Illustration Design. Since then, I’ve been dedicated to building my portfolio, refining my style, and growing as a freelance illustrator.
Along the way, I’ve had the pleasure of working with an art licensing company, designing illustrated maps for 'It’s in Nottingham' events, creating zines, and producing an album cover for an indie band. I’ve also completed editorial commissions for LeftLion magazine, as well as cover artwork and illustrated book covers for independent authors. In addition to commissions, I run a small online shop and regularly sell my work at local craft fairs in the East Midlands.
My illustrations are characterised by bold, intricate blackwork, often enhanced with carefully chosen touches of colour. I love exploring new areas of work, but especially enjoy drawing wildlife and subjects that allow for rich, detailed linework.
In my personal projects, I often weave in themes of folklore, the natural world, and pagan traditions, creating work that feels authentic and meaningful to me. I enjoy building up intricate details using fine black lines, combining traditional techniques, like dip pens, Indian inks, fineliner pens, and watercolour, with digital tools such as Procreate, Adobe Photoshop, and Illustrator.
This blend of traditional and digital methods allows me to create illustrations that are detailed, textured, and full of character, reflecting both my technical skills and personal aesthetic.
